The Parallel CFD & Optimization Unit of the School of Mechanical Engineering of NTUA is a research group specialised on the development of design-optimisation methods based gradient-based methods and applications in turbo-machinery, aircraft or car shape designs. The relevant research (supported by 3 Post-Docs and 8 PhD students) is/was funded by EU projects and European industries (Dassault Aviation, Volkswagen, ICON).
Prof. Kyriakos Giannakoglou (kgianna@central.ntua.gr) has over 25-year experience on CFD/optimisation methods, is the author of more than 150 papers and is responsible for the development of the general-purpose optimisation platform EASY (accommodating both EAs & adjoint methods) developed and brought to market by NTUA. He is the Chairman of the ERCOFTAC SIG 34 on Design Optimisation Methods.
